Ugears Drift Cobra Racing Car

The Drift Cobra Racecar is a beautifully designed two seater convertible which is arguably the most revered sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. The Cobra 427, produced between 1965-6727. had a 7.0 liter engine of 450-510 hp, 0-100 km per hour in just over 4 seconds and had a top speed of 300 km per hour.
 
Powered by a powerful spring motor, the Ugears Drift Cobra racing car has the most horsepower under the hood of any mechanical wooden model we know. We think this DIY model is a beauty, with its fat tires, bulging curves, wide open mouth at the front and convertible design.
 
The moving parts of this wooden car include rotating front wheels, opening doors and an opening hood and trunk. Instead of a rubber band motor, we used a powerful spring mechanism to increase the muscle force in this racer  and extend the useful life of the model.
 
To put the model in drift mode, turn the front wheels all the way to one side or the other, put it on a smooth surface and watch the model come off in a side slip (ideally it should make your model a half to full revolution before continuing, depending on the driving surface and the angle of rotation of the wheels). When the wheels are in the upright position, the model covers a lot of ground - 8 meters or even more!
 
If you put the wheels in a smoother turn, or on a less slippery surface, you will see how the Drift Cobra completes two or three full circles.
