The Knight Bus from the Harry Potter series is here to rescue young wizards and delight all Potter and Ugears fans around the world. This DIY wooden mechanical model bus is an exciting addition to the Ugears Harry Potter collection and a very fine piece of engineering indeed.

 

To create this triple bus, with its unique features from the wizarding universe, our Ugears designers and engineers set themselves an ambitious goal: to create a bus that can shrink, expand, and change speed on its own, just like in the movie; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

 

The speedy Knight Bus roars through the streets (or your living room) thanks to its powerful spring-driven motor that is wound with a secret key stored on top of the bus. Pull up the magic manipulator knob (on the roof of the bus) to lock the drive gears and prevent the bus from driving away before all the wizards and witches are on board.

 

When the canister is stationary, you can now remove the secret winding key, insert it into the ratchet mechanism on the side of the canister and give it a few turns. To set the canister in motion, press the magic manipulator button while holding the canister and then release it!

 

The standout feature of this DIY wooden model is its ability to transform by reducing or expanding its width with a twist of the magic manipulator. Turn the knob on top of the bus counterclockwise and the bus narrows, to squeeze through traffic. Turn the knob clockwise to expand the canister to its actual size.

 

But here's the amazing thing: as the width of the bus changes, so does the speed! In its normal (uncompressed) state, the bus travels astonishingly fast. Compress the bus and an internal mechanism allows the bus to travel in slow motion.
