Ugears Old Chesterton Windmill + Don Quixote
This beautiful mill is, of course, heavily fought over by Don Quixote along with his faithful servant Sancho Panza.
The model is based on the Chesterton Windmill, a 17th century cylindrical stone tower mill that stood outside the village of Chesterton, in Warwickshire. Built around 1632-33 (the Windmill was restored between 1965 and 1974) and today it is the oldest tower mill in England to retain some original working parts.
“The model is powered by a removable rubber tire motor. When the motor is removed, you operate the windmill “manually” so you can see the fascinating and complex mechanism in great detail.
The rubber belt motor drives the blades with the aid of a screw conveyor (“worm feeder”) and a gear gear. The gear transmission design has a “flexure link”, a type of chain drive composed of many small links. This plywood chain drive has never been used in UGears models before.”
