Ugears Tugboat

As you may have noticed, Ugears loves the sea, and marine devices inspire our creativity. If you ever want to taste the sweet freedom of the undulating sea and head towards the horizon, you will need this nautical model to help you prepare.
 
The idea behind the Tugboat was to create a fully functional mechanism. However, with a certain amount of spice, so that it is both practical and interesting. Of course it had to be some kind of vessel. We think  that many of you, like us, enjoy seeing the working of gears. Therefore the detailed hull of the Tugboat has been kept open to see the beautiful mechanism in action. That way, the most important technical features we've implemented in this model will get all the credit they deserve.
 
De Tugboat is driven by a rubber-belt motor, whereby the tension of the straps is translated into movement of the gears. The reduction gear transfers the energy to the drive wheel en onwards to the asymmetrical pair of wheels. The pendulum slows down and equalizes the movement of the Tugboat. The asymmetry of the wheels gives the model its unique way of moving by imitating a boat rocking on the waves.
 
Meanwhile, the work pendulum produces a specific sound that is similar to the sound of an old-fashioned, but still very popular, diesel engine. The key to wind the motor is blocked by a ratchet gear.
 
There are two control levers, one of which stops the mechanism and the other starts it up. Use two ropes with hooks to connect small cargo models with wheels or a paper boat to your Tugboat and transport it. The boot will sail one and a half to three meters on a winding turn, depending on its load and surface.
